How many Repeaters are there? 🔍 View Tool Artist: Jack Ziegler artwork licensed from CartoonStock.com	From 2005, there are millions of captions, thousands of captions per Contest, three Finalists and ultimately one Winner per Contest. The New Yorker selects three Finalist captions. The winner is voted for online. There are a number of contestants that have repeated as a Finalist and then repeated as a Winner. See the charts to see the Repeater Count Distributions.
Punctuation Style 🔍 View Tool Artist: Emily Flake artwork licensed from CartoonStock.com	The New Yorker makes many caption punctuation style edits before printing in the magazine. The most well known edit is "O.K." A common caption occurrence is not ending the caption with punctuation. Usually the period is missing. Some other punctuation edit changes are: adding commas, replacing commas with em dashes, replacing exclamation & question marks, and underlining (sometimes when a word is all uppercase or even if it's not!) e.g. Contest #514 third place: "No, you grow up" was edited to: "No, you grow up" Two edits in this caption. Ponder this: is editing captions a slippery slope?
